THE WOODLANDS, TX – The weather keeps flirting with autumn; right when we think we can turn off the home AC units for the winter and break out the parkas, the mercury shoots in the wrong direction and we wear short sleeves in the 80s.

How this work week begins is nothing like how it ends

With luck, this week will start off bright and warm and rapidly get greyer and cooler and stay that way for the rest of the year. Today, we’ll soon see a massive uptick in cloud coverage and the high of 83 will begin to drop shortly after 2 p.m. Tonight, the clouds will taper off a bit as the winds die down and the humidity settles, leaving us with an overnight low in the 60s.

On Tuesday, the relatively low pressure and slightly rising dew point will keep us warm under half-clouded skies. We’ll make it all the way up to 85 for our high, with the mounting humidity adding a couple of degrees to the heat index. It’ll be much windier, so the weather will be warm but not sweltering as we hit another overnight low in the mid 60s.

Wednesday will start off as a doppelganger to the day before, with clouds across half of the sky and warmer notches on the thermostat. More winds and a high morning humidity factor will make the high of 84 feel cooler than it otherwise could.

As Wednesday morphs into Thursday, however, things will feel a lot cooler and wetter as the clouds mount and the humidity stays at maximum. Right around the time we hit our early afternoon high of 78, we’ll see some rain storms move in. They’ll keep coming and growing all through the afternoon, evening, night, and next day. If you’re an outdoors night owl, you’ll definitely feel the cooler low of 57.

Friday will start off with a continuation of the storms, and by midmorning we might get over a half-inch of rain, so be careful on the roads and bring your umbrella. We’ll actually start the day off with our high of 63; after that, it'll be all downhill for the mercury for the rest of the day and the night, with a frigid low in the lower 50s.

Expect the cool wetness to hang around to some extent or another for the rest of the weekend…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
