THE WOODLANDS, TX – Near-total cloud coverage and relentless humidity are going to give us a warm, damp one today, with a high of 83 but an additional heat index nudging it up to a ‘feels-like’ 87 degrees. Some lunchtime gusty winds will help a bit, but around mid-afternoon you can expect some showers across much of The Woodlands. If it shapes up to be some indoor gaming weather, hit The Adventure Begins for their ‘Bring Your Own Board Game Night.’ Late at night, the winds and the temperature will both drop, but the chances of rain won’t entirely go away.

Weather can’t figure out what it wants to do this weekend

By the time the thousands of IRONMAN participants and spectators swarm the area around dawn, we’ll hit our overnight low of 72 under completely grey skies. Fortunately for the athletes and their supporters, however, soon thereafter the clouds will make way for some sunny weather as we hit a noon high of 84 (with more added to the heat index). Again, some brisk winds will soothe the collective brow of marathoners – getting up to 17 mph – and hopefully the rains will keep away, but right now there’s no guarantee of that. Look for another cloudy, overnight low of 72.

On Sunday, the chances of rain will increase significantly, and you’ll most likely be caught in a thunderstorm or two if you venture outside, with the greatest chances in the later afternoon. We may get up to an inch of the wet stuff, so be extra cautious on the roads. The humidity will once again add some degrees to the high of 83, but you won’t particularly feel it due to the constant storming that will last well into the night as we get down to 69 for our low. As dreary as the weather might be, you can brighten your day at Super Hero Day at Learning Express Toys.

Speaking of storms, in fact, you can pretty much kiss off seeing the sun and keeping dry for most of next week…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
