Lone Star College partners with Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to support non-traditional students
HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College has hitched up with the Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM (HSLRTM) to create the Vocational Scholarship Program that supports non-traditional students pursuing an associate degree or certificate in an approved technical field. The HSLRTM has committed $45,000 in scholarship funding.
“We are thankful to partner with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for helping Lone Star College students be successful through the Vocational Scholarship Program,” said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, LSC Foundation executive director. “With the support of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, our students will have a key barrier removed and find encouragement to continue their education.”
The Vocational Scholarship Program will offer financial assistance to students interested in earning a degree or certification in Commercial Truck Driving, Industrial Diesel Technology, Physical Therapy Assistant and Occupational Therapy Assistant.
“We have appreciated our partnership with Lone Star College,” said Jamie Voskamp, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo senior manager, Scholarships Programs in an email. “It is our intention to provide financial support that will cover most of the total program costs, thus allowing students to maintain focus on their degree attainment.”
HLSRTM will invite all scholarship students enrolled in the fall 2024 semester to attend the Vocational Program Reception to meet the donors who made their scholarship funding possible.
