Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Confirms False Reports of Shooting at The Woodlands Mall, Juvenile in Custody for Firearm Incident

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is aware of a social media post circulating about a shooting and lockdown at the Woodlands Mall. We want to clarify that this information is **not true**.

An officer working an extra job at the mall responded to a reported disturbance involving juveniles. Upon arriving, the officer located a juvenile male who was also reported to be armed. When the officer attempted to detain him, the juvenile fled. During the foot chase, the juvenile discarded a handgun under a parked vehicle.

The juvenile was apprehended by deputies and officers. He is currently in custody, facing charges of evading arrest and unlawful carrying of a firearm.

At no time was there an active shooter.

The juvenile male is from Spring in Harris County.
