The Woodlands 50th Anniversary Grand Celebration & Wildflower Festival: A Day of Family Fun and Festivities
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- As The Woodlands celebrates its 50th anniversary, a day of unforgettable festivities is planned for the whole community. The grand celebration will take place on October 19th, 2024, with events that highlight the nature-loving, family-centered spirit that makes The Woodlands unique.
The Woodlands Wildflower Festival: A Nature-Lover’s Delight
The festivities will begin at 12 p.m. with the much-anticipated Woodlands Wildflower Festival at Northshore Park. Organized by The Woodlands Lions Club, this annual event is one of the longest-running in the area and emphasizes two core values of The Woodlands—nature and family. Running until 4 p.m., the Wildflower Festival will offer:
- Free wildflower seed distribution to the public
- Live stage performances by local talent
- Children’s arts and crafts
- Face painting and balloon art
- Vendors selling unique goods
- A variety of food trucks serving delicious bites
Families will enjoy this perfect combination of fun and education while learning about local wildflowers and their importance to our ecosystem. It’s an event designed to engage children and adults alike in appreciating nature and fostering a sense of community.

The Woodlands 50th Anniversary Grand Celebration: Evening Events
As the Wildflower Festival winds down, the evening festivities will ramp up at both Northshore Park and Hughes Landing. Starting at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy a wide array of entertainment and activities for all ages.
At Northshore Park, the schedule includes:
- Live music by local favorite Nervous Rex
- Children’s arts and crafts, face painting, and balloon art
- Live animal shows showcasing unique wildlife
- Arcade games and a Ferris wheel (Wristbands required for $5 per activity or $10 total, available for purchase onsite with cash or credit. Please note, no change will be given for cash purchases.)
- A variety of vendors and food trucks
At Hughes Landing, guests can enjoy:
- Live music by the Retro Radio Band
- Face painting and balloon art for the little ones
Grand Finale: Drone and Fireworks Show
The evening will culminate in a spectacular high-tech drone and fireworks show lighting up the sky above Lake Woodlands. This breathtaking display will begin at approximately 8:45 p.m., weather permitting, and is generously presented by Woodforest National Bank and Waste Connections.
This grand celebration of 50 years of The Woodlands promises to be a highlight of the year, bringing together neighbors, friends, and families for a day filled with joy, creativity, and wonder.

- 12 to 4 p.m.: The Woodlands Wildflower Festival at Northshore Park
- 12 to 1:15 p.m.: Performance by Boni’s Dance & Performing Arts Studio
- 1:20 to 2:20 p.m.: Performance by Muse Mantra School of Music & Arts
- 2:20 to 3:05 p.m.: Talk by Marcus Bridgewater (Garden Marcus), author of How to Grow
- 3:10 to 4 p.m.: Talk by Devon Jorden, local author of Waiting Room: The Seanton Jorden Story
- 5 to 9 p.m.: The Woodlands 50th Anniversary Grand Celebration at Northshore Park and Hughes Landing
- 8:45 p.m.: Drone and Fireworks Show over Lake Woodlands (approximate time, weather permitting)
