Union Pacific Railroad –Track Maintenance Notice – January 11, 2025

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Each year, Union Pacific invests more than a billion dollars maintaining our infrastructure, including replacing track, railroad ties and bridges. Routine maintenance of our 32,000-mile network is a critical part of our commitment to safety.
Starting Saturday, January 11th, Union Pacific will conduct the first phase of a railroad tie replacement project in Harris and Montgomery counties. The project will replace 600 railroad ties and resurface public roadway crossings with a goal of completing one to two a day. Please see the map and current list of crossings below. The work is anticipated to occur within the hours 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. We are working closely with the coordinating roadway agency, such as the city or county engineering department, on this project. Advanced warning devices will be utilized to alert the public. The removed ties will be staged in piles on our right-of-way and will be picked up in the weeks following the project.
Our goal is to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible, with the least amount of impact to neighborhoods, commuters, and businesses.
