No Safe Haven for Predators: Montgomery County Jury Delivers 99-Year Sentence

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On Monday, April 28, 2025, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office prosecutors Jamie Sulla and Jaime Wallace began presenting the case of State of Texas vs. Epifanio Adolfo Jimenez, a man charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. It was a crime that forever changed a young life, shattered innocence, and demanded accountability.
Jurors listened closely as a series of witnesses, many traveling from outside the county, took the stand. Their testimonies wove together a harrowing account: a detective, a school counselor, a forensic interviewer, a sexual assault nurse examiner, the brave young survivor herself, and a therapist. Each voice carried the weight of a young girl’s nightmare.
The story they told was chilling. In 2017, Jimenez, a family member entrusted with access to the victim, violently sexually assaulted her on her 13th birthday. For years, the child carried the secret alone, too afraid to speak. It was not until 2022, after attending a Teen Truth Assembly at her school, that she finally found the strength to confide in her counselor.
But Jimenez’s cruelty was not isolated. Jurors heard from a Sergeant with the Galveston Police Department who testified that just one week after sexually assaulting the victim, Jimenez was arrested during an undercover sting operation for Online Solicitation of a Minor. In this case, Jimenez was communicating with a person he believed to be a 15-year-old child.
Following a meticulous presentation of the evidence, the jury found Jimenez guilty. During the punishment phase, the jury was struck by emotional testimony from women who described surviving Jimenez’s violence, including strangulation. Jurors also saw damning evidence: while on probation out of Galveston County, Jimenez had blatantly violated his terms by accessing online dating platforms and attempting to connect with single mothers to reach their children.
The State urged the jury to act to protect the women and children of Montgomery County from a man who "cannot stop and will not stop." They asked for justice for the survivor who will carry the scars of that brutal birthday for the rest of her life. On April 30, 2025, the jury delivered its answer: 99 years in prison, ensuring that Jimenez will never again have the opportunity to prey on the vulnerable.
We are deeply grateful to the Ingleside Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Galveston Police Department for their relentless dedication to this case. Their work, alongside the bravery of the survivor and the resolve of our prosecutors, has helped secure justice and safety for our community.
In Montgomery County, we do not forget our victims. We stand with them. We fight for them.
Assistant District Attorney Jamie Sulla: “Family is meant to protect children from monsters, not become the monster in their lives. Epifanio Adolfo Jimenez’s reign of abuse is over. The jury gave a voice to a child who lived in silence and sent a clear message that Montgomery County will not tolerate those who prey on women and children.”
District Attorney Brett Ligon: “A 99-year sentence sends a clear message: if you hurt our children, you will pay the price. I am proud of the survivor’s courage, our prosecutors’ determination, and the commitment of our law enforcement partners in bringing this predator to justice.”
