Multiple Agencies Respond to Fatal Collision and Vehicle Fire on I-45
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 8:16 p.m. this evening, The Woodlands Fire Department's Rescue 101 and Battalion 101 were dispatched to assist the Conroe Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) in response to a serious motor vehicle collision with fire on the northbound mainlanes of Interstate 45, just north of FM 1488.
Rescue 101 was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported two vehicles fully involved in flames, with multiple injured individuals. Firefighters and medics from the responding agencies acted swiftly to extinguish the fire and begin triage on the victims.
Three patients were transported to a nearby hospital, two of whom sustained serious injuries. Tragically, one individual was pronounced deceased on scene.
Additional support was provided by Needham Fire & Rescue / Montgomery County ESD #4. Law enforcement agencies, including Conroe Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
