HS Sports: Conroe Celebrates the End of a Sensational Athletic Season, With Historic Leaps In Multiple Programs
CONROE, TX -- Historic achievements for Conroe Tiger Athletics have seen multiple programs forge new legacies by breaking historic droughts and creating new highs in the 2024-25 season for what the teams can strive toward.
Constant improvement in the coaching staff, players, and adherence to the culture established by Campus AD and Head Football Coach Cedric Hardeman have begun producing results that the Tiger program had lacked for multiple decades.
Trips to the playoffs in multiple sports throughout the athletic season saw that the multifaceted talents of the Conroe student-athletic body have the tools necessary to chart a new course for Tiger athletics.
Football:
With a dual-threat offense that loved to trust their two-headed monster in the backfield, the Tiger Football team took the strides needed to separate itself from the crowd and emerge as a playoff team.
Dynamic 1st-Team All-District players in Dramecko Green and Christian Nunley led the way on offense, while standout Defensive Player of the Year Jadyn Ramos wreaked havoc on opposing squads. This balanced approach secured a spot in the playoffs for the Tigers in a competitive 13-6A.
Their jump into the Bi-District round of the playoffs broke a nearly 20-year drought, but their win made even more history. Conroe’s 34-7 victory over Benjamin Davis in Round One was the first playoff win for the Tigers since 1999, ending a lengthy slump for one of the storied programs in 13-6A.
Girls Water Polo:
While not as glamorous as the Friday night lights of Football, the waves made by the Conroe Girls Water Polo program were felt throughout the state for how deep their postseason run went.
Strong performances against the built-up programs of 13-6A netted Conroe its first-ever District Championship. Their showings were not unfounded, as their opponents began to find out during the UIL Playoffs.
Dominant wins by an average of just over 15 goals saw the Lady Tigers blaze through the first three rounds of the playoffs with relative ease. The most goals conceded in any postseason game before their arrival in the Regional Semifinals was eight.
The team’s defeat in the Regional Semis soured the trip, but a 15th-ranked position in the state and a 50th-ranked spot nationally elevated the success of the Conroe Girls Water Polo team to heights that it had never seen before.
Softball:
Not many fans of 13-6A softball were surprised when the Conroe Tigers emerged as the District Champions for the 2025 season. The back-to-back titles had been built on the shoulders of constant work from the talented athletes, but their hefty victories were worthy of celebrating on their own.
Wins by upwards of 15 runs against district opponents proved that the Tigers were building toward something greater than a District Title. And players like Alisa Sneed, Eva Lantagne, and Addison Mason were ready to make the jump as key players on a historic softball run.
Sneed and Lantagne had already proven themselves in high-pressure situations during their District Championship performances in track and field. But, a new level of success came in the team’s lopsided wins during the first three rounds of the Softball Playoffs.
A combined score of 55-4 through four games and three rounds of the playoffs demonstrated the incredible talents Conroe was working with. The cardiac nature of the Baseball team was not present in the outright forceful Softball team upon their trip to Kyle for the Regional Semifinals.
The trip through the postseason for the top-10 team did get cut short by Midway during the march through Kyle, but the mark of a historically long and dominant season will be one that future generations of Tiger athletes will have to work day and night to replicate.
Baseball
Rounding out the athletic season for the Tigers was an electrifying run put on by the Conroe Baseball team, which had taken years to reach the limits pushed by their 2025 program under the leadership of Coach Jeff Raymer.
Intense competition in 13-6A saw multiple squads push for hopeful spots in the postseason, with Grand Oaks breathing down Conroe’s neck the entire way. The final game of the season was the difference between the Tigers missing or making the cut, with a 9-7 record in district getting them into the playoff picture.
Tough competition from the District Champion Aldine Mustangs got Conroe’s journey in the playoffs started with a bang, leading to a three-game series that concluded in Conroe’s first playoff series win since 1997.
The Conroe hype train did not stop following the Bi-District Championship. Another intense series in the Area Round saw the Tigers take down another tough opponent in the form of Klein Collins.
Both series featured late-game heroics that saved the season, leading to Conroe’s first trip past the second round in the state playoffs since 1989.
The baseball team’s historic run would also be cut short in Kyle due to the Midway Panthers, but a great series that needed three games to complete it further demonstrated the never-quit attitude of a Tiger team that fought so hard to etch their name in history.
