THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands High School Bass Fishing Team is urgently seeking a volunteer boat captain to support a team of dedicated student anglers for the 2025 Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) season.

For many students, competing in offshore fishing tournaments is a dream—but without access to a boat, participation can be out of reach. Fortunately, community members have stepped up in the past to serve as volunteer boat captains, making this opportunity possible.

Now, rising juniors Robert Phelps and Sanders Pyle are in need of a new captain. After a successful 2024 season, including a trip to THSBA regionals, their previous captain has stepped down, leaving them without a boat for the upcoming year.

Volunteer captains typically travel to one tournament per month and are welcome to fish during most events. They may also enter optional side pots to compete for prize money. Captains assist their teams with lake strategy and play a key role in helping anglers pursue valuable scholarship opportunities.

Anyone with a love for fishing and a desire to mentor student athletes is encouraged to get involved.
