HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College System is now accepting applications for the 2025–26 Leadership High School (LHS) program, a dynamic, tuition-free initiative that prepares public high school sophomores and juniors to become future community leaders. LHS is designed to help students unlock their leadership potential, develop communication and problem-solving skills and connect with peers and professionals across industries.

“Leadership High School gives students a chance to shine beyond the classroom,” said Kay Fitzsimons, LSC executive director of Leadership and Economic Development. “It’s a transformative experience that builds confidence and cultivates a passion for service.”

The program begins in October with an orientation, followed by monthly interactive sessions, and concludes with a Certificate Ceremony on April 11. Each session explores leadership best practices and includes conversations with community and business leaders.

“Our goal is to empower students with lifelong skills,” added Fitzsimons. “We want them to see themselves as agents of positive change—ready to lead and inspire others.”

Program highlights include:

  • Interactive workshops
  • Team-based activities that strengthen collaboration
  • Community service project
  • Networking with peers and community leaders

Applications are accepted through Sept. 19, and participation is completely free. Eligible students must reside within the LSCS service area. Students and parents can learn more and apply at LoneStar.edu/Leadership-HighSchool.
