THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On July 9th at about 4pm, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call from a female motorist who stated she had driven off into a water filled ditch and was stranded in her vehicle. The driver could only say she was lost and went down a dirt road and accidentally drove into the ditch. At the time she called, she advised water was surrounding her vehicle and was up to the door handles.

The driver was able to describe her surroundings, and district deputies recognized her description and went to this area. Her phone was pinged and after an urgent search, Deputy Parent located the vehicle with the driver still inside. She was discovered to be 100 years old, affected by sitting in cold, muddy water for several hours, and unable to extract herself from the vehicle. Deputy Parent, with the assistance of Woodlands Fire Department Technical Rescue Team were able to get to the vehicle and assist the lady out of the ditch and get her to medical personnel. We are happy to report she is doing well with her family after this frightening incident.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office recognizes the value of having District deputies assigned and acquainted with the area they patrol. This is a great example of dedicated public servants moving quickly to assist our citizens and guests at their moment of great need. We salute Deputy Parent for his efficient, quick, and compassionate response!
