THE WOODLANDS, TX – Huntsville resident Lizzie Pace is an employee of Back Table Kitchen and Bar, one of the top-tier restaurants at The Woodlands Resort near N Millbend and Grogan’s Mill. She was galvanized into action when she heard of the devastation of the flooding that occurred over the July 4 holiday in Kerr County and Beyond.

“When I heard about the devastation from the flooding in Central Texas, my first thought was, ‘How can I help?’ I’ve seen firsthand how communities can come together in times of crisis, and I truly believe small acts of kindness can create big waves of support,” she told Woodlands Online.

Her answer was to spearhead a donation drive for flood victims. She encouraged fellow employees to assist her. “The drive is strictly employee run. This is not a company run drive. Anybody is invited to participate; the more donations, the better.”

From now through July 29, members of the community can drop off donations at Back Table. Depending on community response, the donation deadline may be extended.

“If you are closer to Conroe, I would be more than happy to pick up donations from you. Please reach out to my email at epace@woodlandsresort.com,” she said.

Lizzie and her crew are collecting a wide range of donations. They have looked at some websites and heard the requests from the families affected. Clean-up items are sorely needed, such as trash bags, gloves, cleaning supplies, and remediation equipment. For the animals, dog food and cat food, hay, horse grain, leads / halters, and even toys. They are also collecting items for animal shelters, volunteers on horseback, and livestock that was affected by the flooding as well. Currently, there is not a need for donations of clothing.

“We may not be able to fix everything, but we can make sure these families know they’re not alone,” Lizzy told Woodlands Online. “This donation drive is about neighbors helping neighbors- even if we’re miles apart.”
