THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On July 24, 2025, at the 50th Anniversary Crime Prevention Association Conference in College Station, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit was awarded the State Outstanding Crime Prevention Agency Award (Large Agency) for the second consecutive year. This honor, presented by the Texas Crime Prevention Association, highlights the Unit's commitment to proactive community engagement and public safety.

Deputy Specialists Carlos Tavarez, Ryan McCarty, and Brian Aguilar were recognized for their vital contributions. Their efforts have strengthened partnerships with local organizations and empowered residents throughout The Woodlands and greater Montgomery County.

Working with The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Services, the Unit implements educational initiatives that help residents understand safety and crime reduction strategies. These efforts have led to improved community awareness and participation in crime prevention.

Additionally, Carlos Tavarez received the State Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist (Large Agency) award, while Brian Aguilar obtained his Texas Crime Prevention Certification. These accolades underscore the dedication of our deputies and our focus on building a safer community.
This recognition reinforces Montgomery County's leading role in crime prevention across Texas, setting a high standard for law enforcement agencies statewide.
