Lightning Strike Sparks Attic Fire in The Woodlands; Six Displaced, No Injuries Reported

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 9:17 p.m. on May 2, 2025, The Woodlands Fire Department was dispatched to the 9900 block of Wild Indigo Circle to assist Needham Fire & Rescue / Montgomery County ESD #4 with a reported structure fire caused by a lightning strike.

Engine 106 from The Woodlands was first to arrive on scene and observed smoke coming from a two-story residence. Firefighters quickly entered the home and located the fire in the attic. The blaze was contained and extinguished without further spread to the rest of the structure.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. However, six residents have been displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross is providing temporary assistance to those affected.

The response included support from multiple agencies, including Conroe Fire Department, South Montgomery County Fire Department, and Montgomery County Hospital District.

The cause of the fire has been confirmed as a lightning strike, and crews remained on scene to ensure the area was safe and fully extinguished.
