Homicide Investigation Underway After Man Found Shot Dead in Willis Home

WILLIS, TX -- On August 2, 2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Willis Police Department, responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 500 block of East Marlin Street in Willis, Texas.

Upon arrival, first responders located a deceased male inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Anthony Scott.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, the Willis Police Department, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and Death Investigators from the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
