Commissioner Ritch Wheeler Celebrates Grand Opening of Kevin Brady Library and Community Center
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Commissioner Ritch Wheeler expressed great excitement and pride during the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center, by The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. This long-awaited facility marks a new chapter in community engagement, honoring legacy, promoting learning, and providing a modern venue for gatherings of all kinds.
The event, held in Grogan’s Mill Village Center, drew a large crowd of community leaders, residents, and honored guests, including Congressman Kevin Brady and his wife Cathy Brady. Their presence underscored the significance of the moment, as the new center proudly bears Congressman Brady’s name in recognition of his lasting contributions to the region.
“This is more than a building, it’s a symbol of everything we value here in The Woodlands: community, connection, and honoring those who built the foundation we now stand on,” said Commissioner Ritch Wheeler. “It’s incredibly meaningful to open a space that reflects our past, supports our present, and empowers our future.”
Prior to the September 2nd opening, the community gathered for a special unveiling event titled “Honor the Names That Built Us.” During the event, Commissioner Wheeler officially announced the names of key interior rooms, paying tribute to influential local leaders:
• Senator Tommy Williams Meeting Room
• Cathy Brady Ballroom
• Dr. Ed Robb Meeting Room
• Julie Ambler Meeting Room
• Jim and Nelda Blair Meeting Room
• Bruce Cunningham Lounge
• Judge Edie Connelly Meeting Room
Each space within the center was thoughtfully named to honor individuals who have made significant and lasting impacts on The Woodlands community.
The Kevin Brady Library and Community Center features a stunning ballroom that accommodates up to 300 guests, perfect for weddings, banquets, and large events, as well as a state-of-the-art tiered classroom with seating for 98, ideal for lectures, training, and educational programs. The center will also continue to serve as a welcoming space for senior programs and daily community activities.
“Today’s ribbon cutting for the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center is a celebration of the values that make The Woodlands thrive – education, community, and opportunity,” said Aaron Cox, President & CEO of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce.
