The College Park Cavaliers and Conroe Tigers Clash to Open District Play

THE WOODLANDS, TX --This Thursday, district play will finally begin for the teams residing in District 13 of 6A Region II, as the College Park Cavaliers and Conroe Tigers will face off in a heated matchup. Both teams will come into this game hot off two out-of-district wins and look to continue that momentum this week.
The College Park Cavaliers Want to Win With Their High-Scoring Offense
QB Camden Hughes leads the College Park team, throwing 11 touchdowns already this season and amassing 697 yards through the air. Hughes achieves these impressive stats with his talented WR core, led by Julian Cromartie, who has already gained 305 yards and scored 3 touchdowns in 2 games. Other WRs like Jordan Styles and Brian Snodgrass have also contributed to the scoring, making this one of the strongest WR groups in the district. College Park also benefits from their RB Kaylen Stephens, who has been a standout on offense, as he can run and catch the ball, earning 4 touchdowns this season. On the other side of the ball, safety Marco Beltran has been doing it all, leading the team in tackles and securing an interception. If College Park’s offense can keep up this dominance, they will be a team to watch as the season progresses.
The Conroe Tigers Look to Continue Their Dominant Ground Game
After facing the pair of Alief teams before district play began, Conroe also aims to continue their winning streak this week. Conroe is led offensively by senior RB Alex Spence Myers, who has gained 272 yards on the ground over 2 games. Spence Myers has scored 3 touchdowns and is a key part of this offense with 36 carries so far. QB Cameron Nunley has had a strong start in his first 2 games, throwing 3 touchdowns and 389 yards. Nunley’s top target appears to be Elijah Harris, who leads the team with 190 yards and 2 TDs. On defense, senior Azi Quintanilla leads the team with 4 tackles for loss, including a sack, and has forced a fumble that Conroe recovered. Conroe has allowed only 7 points in these 2 games and aims to shut down College Park’s offense to secure a win.
Overall Thoughts and Predictions
Both teams are powerful heading into this week, and both want this statement win to kick off district play and establish themselves as contenders for the district championship. College Park has one of the district's top offenses and has been able to surpass any defense they face easily. They have elite weapons and will be an exciting team to watch. However, Conroe also boasts powerful offensive players, along with a defense that has proven capable of shutting down opponents. They follow a game plan that focuses on running the ball and controlling the clock, which we saw last week when Klein Collins surprised Willis, and it could pose challenges for College Park. Overall, this matchup is a true coin flip and promises to be an exciting start to district play. To watch this game unfold, check out the live coverage here on Woodlands Online.
