Two Arrested for Metal Theft at Abandoned Sawdust Road Gas Station in Spring, TX

SPRING, TX -- On September 24, 2025, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office District 2 units arrested two individuals suspected of theft of metal. The arrests followed an investigation into a suspicious vehicle at an abandoned gas station on Sawdust Road.
Just after 9 a.m., deputies were patrolling the area when they noticed a suspicious vehicle behind the gas station located at 650 Sawdust Road. Deputies made contact with the occupants, 50-year-old Richard Sliger and 39-year-old Dan-el Dalman. A subsequent search of the vehicle, conducted with consent from the occupants, led to the discovery of a significant amount of copper wire, along with tools commonly used for stripping wire.
During the search, deputies also found two diaries detailing specific construction sites and describing locations matching the area where the arrests were made. A cash sum of just over $1,900 was also recovered from the vehicle, believed to be proceeds from the sale of stolen copper.
Further investigation of the surrounding area revealed a tampered electrical pole missing copper wire that matched the wire found in the suspects’ vehicle. It also appeared a wire had been pulled from the gas station building.
Both suspects have been arrested and are being transported to the Montgomery County Jail where they will be charged for the offense of Theft of Metal (a State Jail Felony).
