ROAD TRIP: Harris County Precinct 4’s Third Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Festival

THE WOODLANDS, TX – It’s no secret that The Woodlands area has expanded enough to be included in Harris County under Commissioner Lesley Briones. While the precinct does cover parts of the southwestern reaches of The Woodlands, it extends far into Houston.
This weekend, however, it might be worth the trip out for the precinct’s third annual Hispanic Heritage Month Festival, taking place at Bayland Park in southwest Houston from noon to 4:00 p.m. this Saturday, September 27.
Participants are encouraged to come celebrate Latino culture and its impact on our community with an afternoon of music, dance, food, and family fun.
This year’s event will also include a Precinct 4 Town Hall from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. During this Town Hall, you will hear directly from precinct leadership about initiatives positively impacting your community. There will be a brief presentation from Luis Guajardo (Directory of Planning & Community Development), and the festival will also have knowledgeable speakers who will highlight health and family resources available to you at both community centers.
Festival highlights include live Batala drum performances, traditional Loteria & Papel picado crafts, mariachi music & Texas Salsa Congress dance class, book readings and giveaways from Arte Público, interactive games for all ages, delicious Hispanic food trucks, a Property Tax Workshop hosted by the Harris County Tax Assessor/ Collector, a Know Your Right's Workshop hosted by Justice for All Immigrants, and a Pinata Workshop hosted by Grupo de Teatro Indigo.
The festival is free and open to the public, but you can still register at https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/hcprecinct4/activity/search/detail/32860.
