Upcoming Traffic Switch Scheduled for FM 1488 in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, TX -- The City of Magnolia has been notified by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the FM 1488 contractor that the previously delayed traffic switch will now take place over two weekends in October 2025. Motorists traveling through the FM 1488 corridor should be aware of upcoming changes and plan accordingly.
Updated Traffic Switch Schedule:
Weekend 1: Friday, October 3 – Saturday, October 4

Work is expected to take place overnight Friday and be completed by early Saturday morning.

Traffic west of Audubon Blvd will shift onto the new pavement along the south side of FM 1488, extending through the SH 249 intersection to just east of Magnolia Ridge Blvd.

Asphalt placement and restriping will occur at Magnolia Ridge Blvd to create a transition area.

A longer left-turn lane will be in place at Magnolia Ridge Blvd following this switch.
Weekend 2: Friday, October 10 – Monday, October 13

Work will primarily occur during overnight and early morning hours to reduce daytime congestion.

Crews will perform fast-track paving on the western half of the Audubon Blvd intersection, with completion expected by early Monday morning.

The eastern half of the Audubon Blvd intersection will remain under construction October 13–17, during Fall Break for local schools, to help minimize traffic impacts.
The City of Magnolia encourages drivers to exercise caution, allow extra travel time, and stay alert for construction crews while these changes are underway.
