The new Day Center expands Compassion United’s ability to serve individuals experiencing homelessness by providing a medical clinic in partnership with Interfaith Community Clinic, a commercial kitchen for daily hot breakfasts, showers and laundry services, success coaching, and a partner hub for agencies such as Montgomery County Food Bank and Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare.

“This new Day Center is more than just a building—it’s a lifeline,” said Luke Redus, Founder and CEO of Compassion United. “It’s a place where people can find hope, resources, and a pathway to a better future.”

Founded in 2006, Compassion United serves more than 600 unique individuals experiencing homelessness each year, providing everything from basic relief to long-term empowerment. The organization’s programs include:

Daily hot meals, showers, laundry, and transportation
A free medical clinic and financial assistance programs
Life skills classes and workforce certifications
Trauma and addiction recovery groups
Transitional housing with an 80% success rate and 90% long-term sobriety rate

In addition to the new Day Center, Compassion United operates one of the largest food pantries in Montgomery County and continues construction on expanded transitional housing facilities at its five-acre Miracle City campus.

The public grand opening and tours will take place on Friday, November 14, offering community members a first look at the new facility and ongoing campus development.
