Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Investigates the Death of a Male in Custody
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives in conjunction with the Texas Rangers, Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an in-custody death that occurred at the Montgomery County Jail during the early morning hours of November 11, 2025.
The deceased has been identified as Alex Brady Dalton, a white male, age 37, who was in custody since yesterday afternoon for Assault Family Violence. Early this morning, Dalton began exhibiting erratic behavior and harming himself, at which time measures were taken to prevent further injuries. Shortly after, Dalton became unresponsive and lifesaving measures were administered by jail and medical staff. Emergency Medical Services with the Montgomery County Hospital District were summoned to the jail. EMS exhausted all lifesaving efforts and pronounced Dalton deceased. Major Crime Detectives have notified Dalton’s next of kin.
In accordance with Texas State law, this death is being investigated in conjunction with the above listed law enforcement agencies. As this is an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office prides itself in the care of those in our custody and will continue to work diligently with the Texas Rangers and Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dalton family during this difficult time.
