Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting Near Carl Barton Park

CONROE, TX -- Yesterday afternoon, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an officer-involved shooting involving a Precinct 2 Constable’s Deputy during a traffic stop near Carl Barton Park and Loop 336.

Preliminary information indicates that during the encounter, the Deputy discharged his weapon, striking the suspect in the hand. The suspect fled into Carl Barton Park but was quickly apprehended by responding deputies. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The involved Deputy was also evaluated at the hospital and was not physically injured. No bystanders were harmed during the incident.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the event. Body-worn camera footage and evidence collected at the scene are currently under review.
