Officer-Involved Shooting Near Carl Barton Park: Suspect Injured and Arrested After Traffic Stop Incident in Conroe

CONROE, TX -- On 12/09/2025, a Deputy with the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office initiated a traffic stop near Carl Barton Park along South Loop 336 East in Conroe.

During the course of the stop, the deputy discharged his firearm, resulting in the suspect being struck in the hand.

The suspect fled in his vehicle further into the park before fleeing on foot, but was quickly apprehended by responding deputies. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The deputy was also evaluated and is not physically injured. There were ongoing sports events simultaneously occurring at Carl Barton Park during this incident, however no bystanders were harmed.

The suspect, a 34 year old Hispanic male from Houston, is currently in custody for charges including Interference with Public Duties and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, with additional charges being reviewed.

Constable David Eason extends his appreciation to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance and for leading the external investigation. As part of our standard departmental procedures, the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office is also conducting its own internal review of the incident.
