Reckless ATV Crash in Splendora Injures 8-Year-Old; Montgomery County Man Arrested on Felony Injury to a Child Charge

SPLENDORA, TX -- On December 18, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an ATV crash in the 14000 block of Cedarwood Oaks Road in Splendora, TX.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the ATV crash was caused by the reckless driving of 32-year-old Hunter Hudson. Witnesses in the neighborhood had observed Hudson driving recklessly with a child passenger prior to the crash. The 8-year-old child passenger sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of the injuries the child was subsequently flown by helicopter to a hospital in Houston for more advanced treatment. The child remains in stable condition at this time.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Based on this investigation, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Hudson for Felony Injury to a Child.

Hudson was placed into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

This is an active investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that operating an ATV can be extremely dangerous and you should always obey all safety procedures and traffic laws when operating an ATV of any kind.
