All Aboard for a Circus-Themed Model Train Display at The Woodlands Children’s Museum
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Start your new year with a bang and a whistle at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, as we bring the excitement of the circus to life with a miniature model train display during January 6-9, 2026. Created by the All Points North Model Railroad Association, children can enjoy the greatest show on wheels with the vibrant HO-scale layout featuring a Ferris wheel, carousel, roller coaster, moving parade, and an animated big top tent, complete with hundreds of miniature people enjoying the sights and sounds of the carnival.
“This intricate and captivating exhibit not only ignites the imagination of young children but sparks a sense of wonder for the whole family,” stated Angela Colton, the museum’s Executive Director. “The careful attention to detail took countless hours to create and we appreciate APN sharing their creative efforts with us. This one-of-a-kind experience is a magical way to start the new year with wonder and joy.”
Additional circus- and train- themed activities are planned throughout the week, including art projects that allow children to create a keepsake of their visit. On Friday, January 9th at 11:00am, a special Storybook Theatre will be provided featuring the book Circus Train by Jennifer Cole Judd. In this delightful story, children and parents get in line for their chance to experience the Big Top and the chance to enjoy dancing elephants, flipping trapeze artists, and pie-throwing clowns in this beautifully illustrated children’s book.
All Points North Model Railroad Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to support the hobby of model railroading for its members. With over 5,000 square feet of space at their facility in Conroe, Texas, the modular layout club is one of the largest HO-scale layouts in the Greater Houston Area. The circus train display is their first traveling exhibit and was recently featured at the Austin Model Train Show. The idea to create this exhibit came from two APN members, Mike Durham and John Buckley, to provide a mobile display that focused on some of the features of animation such as light, sound, and motion, and share that vision with interested parties in the model railroading community.
The model train display will be available January 6-9, 2026 from 10:00am – 2:00pm and is included with the price of admission. Tickets are $9.00 for adults and children age one and over. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is open daily Tuesday through Thursday 9:30am - 2:00pm, Friday 9:30am - 4:00pm and Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm. The museum is located in the Panther Creek Village Center at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
