The Woodlands Children’s Museum Announces Leadership Transition
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Board of Directors of The Woodlands Children’s Museum announced today that Angela Colton is stepping down from her role as Executive Director, marking 18 years of leadership and service to the organization and the greater community.
Since joining the museum in 2008, Angela has played a pivotal role in shaping the institution into a trusted educational and cultural resource for families throughout Montgomery County and beyond. Under her leadership, the museum experienced significant growth in attendance, expanded its educational programming, strengthened community partnerships, and enhanced accessibility for children of all backgrounds. Her passion for creative expression has cultivated a museum environment that encourages families to imagine and grow together.
“Angela has been the heartbeat of this organization for many years and we are immensely grateful for her dedication and leadership,” stated Board Chairman David Dunlap. “Her vision and commitment not only strengthened the museum but also enriched the lives of thousands of children and families. This solid foundation allows us to move into the next phase with confidence and a clear path toward future goals.”
Angela guided the museum through major milestones, including facility improvements, the development of signature programs and special events, and the expansion of outreach initiatives. She also led the organization through challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the museum remained resilient during an unprecedented time.
The museum’s Board of Directors has appointed Jennifer Kraus as Interim Executive Director. She brings 8 years of experience as Development Director and will oversee day-to-day operations while the Board conducts a comprehensive search for the museum’s next permanent leader. During this transition, the Board and staff remain committed to the museum’s mission to educate, empower, and excite children and families through play.
