THE WOODLANDS, TX— The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) is proud to announce the launch of its new Senior Art Program, an outreach initiative designed to provide meaningful arts experiences, creative workshops, and accessible visual arts opportunities for seniors across Montgomery County.

The program launched in September 2025 in partnership with Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Launched in September 2025, the Senior Art Program reflects TWAC’s continued commitment to strengthening arts access for all ages and expanding the impact of its community programming in support of the organization’s mission, Because Art Matters. Through hands-on activities and creative engagement, the program offers seniors an opportunity to connect, create, and experience the benefits of the arts in welcoming community settings.

TWAC is excited to partner with Interfaith of The Woodlands to help deliver workshops and art kits to seniors with limited access to visual arts opportunities. Through this collaboration and ongoing outreach efforts, TWAC’s Senior Art Program will continue expanding to serve seniors across Montgomery County.

Local artist, educator, and filmmaker Dandridge Reed has served as the program’s instructor, guiding participants through hands-on visual arts activities and creative learning experiences. Reed’s instruction has helped bring both new artistic skills and a sense of joy and connection to seniors participating in the program.

Since launching, TWAC has already seen a strong community response, with seniors enthusiastically participating in the program’s activities and creative sessions. The Senior Art Program will continue throughout the year, with additional workshops and engagement opportunities planned. The next Senior Art Program activity will take place in February.

“The arts bring people together, and we’re excited to extend that opportunity to seniors in our community through this new program,” said Jenny Carattini-Wright, TWAC CEO & Executive Director. “The response so far has been incredibly encouraging, and we’re proud to continue building creative experiences that support connection, joy, and community for older adults across Montgomery County.”

In support of this new program, TWAC received a grant from The Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF). TWAC extends its sincere gratitude to MCCF for investing in arts access and helping expand creative opportunities for seniors in Montgomery County. This grant supported program delivery, including TWAC’s holiday-season Senior Watercolor Art Kit activity, which provided participants with a meaningful hands-on art experience and supplies to create at home.
