GOP Early voting results for Montgomery County
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Montgomery County Elections Office has released its results from absentee and early voting ballots that were cast before today during the early voting period.
Of particular interest to residents of The Woodlands are the races for Congressional District 2 and Montgomery County Judge. For the Republican Party voters, early voting results for the congressional seat have incumbent Dan Crenshaw with 7,202 votes cast – or 34.58% of the vote – versus challenger Steve Toth’s 12,950 votes – or 62.17%. Spoilers N. Lee Plum and Martin Etwop have both garnered less than two percent of the early vote.
Should Crenshaw clinch enough votes and Plum and Etwop take enough for themselves to prevent Toth from maintaining a 50-plus percentage lead, a runoff election will be called to select the sole candidate for the hotly contested seat. That candidate will go on to face Democrat James Graf in the general election.
For the County Judge seat, incumbent Mark Keough and sole challenger Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack were neck and neck going into Election Day, with Keough at 23,807 votes (50.41%) and Mack at 23,424 votes (49.59%).
In other races, Ken Paxton has taken the lead in the U.S. Senate race with 55.47% of the vote versus John Cornyn’s 26.90% and Wesley Hunt’s 15.29%, with other candidates receiving less than one percent each of the early vote.
For Congressional District 8, Jessica Steinmann has a healthy lead in early vote ballots with more than 70 percent of the vote; Brett Jensen garnered a little over 14% and Nick Tran with approximately 11%.
The Governor’s Mansion doesn’t appear to be needing its locks changed as incumbent Greg Abbott is sitting steady with nearly 80 percent of the vote, and his lieutenant Dan Patrick even more secure with 90 percent.
In other races of note include:
- State Board of Education, District 6 has Tiffany Nelson securing the early vote with 71.69% of the vote.
- Former Montgomery County District Attorney Brett W. Ligon will most likely maintain his hearty lead for State Senator, District 4 with 83.30%.
- State Representative, District 3 incumbent Cecil Bell, Jr will have a long night awaiting updates to his challenger Kristen Plaisance’s 56.27% lead.
- Incumbent for State Representative, District 16 Will Metcalf faced Election Day with more than 65 percent of the vote over challenger Jon Bouche; the races for District 15 and 18 were unopposed, with Brad Bailey and Janis Holt respectively heading to the general election.
- County Commissioner, Precinct No. 2 Charlie Riley is assuredly keeping an eye on his 54.90% lead over challenger Bob Harvey.
- In the Justice of the Peace, Precinct No. 1 race, a runoff election may be in the cards with Scott Carson having an early vote lead of only 52% over challengers Brian Luly and William Waggoner and their 14.2% and 33.6% tallies respectively.
- For JP, Precinct 3, incumbent Jay Mac Sanders and challenger Brittany Gable-Hale will take it to the wire with a respective 47.14% and 52.86% early vote count.
Additionally, all 10 propositions on the ballot have received overwhelming support in the early vote, with all of them likely to easily pass.
