Woodlands Online to co-moderate Oct. 9 Township Position 6 Candidate Forum
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Business Advocacy Council has announced that the debate-style forum for candidates running for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors Position 6 will once again be co-moderated by Woodlands Online’s news editor, Sean K. Thompson.
The forum will take place on Thursday, October 9 at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce offices, 9320 Lake Side Blvd., suite 200 in The Woodlands. The event will run from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and will be open to the public. Additionally, Woodlands Online will livestream and post the video of the forum.
Alongside co-moderator Nicole Preston, general manager of Community Impact newspaper, Thompson will pose questions to the candidates running for the only contested seat this November election season. Three positions on the board will be on the ballot, but Position 5’s incumbent Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs and Position 7’s incumbent Cindy Heiser are running unopposed. For Position 6, currently held by Dr. Ann K. Snyder, who announced this is her last term on the board, four candidates have filed to replace her.
All four candidates – Adam Lamb, Allan Bounds, Philip Ikharebhore, and Dr. Maria Holmes – have been invited to the forum, which is scheduled to include set debate-style questions, a Lincoln-Douglas format, and questions from the audience.
The office carries a two-year term, and all three positions are elected at large by voters in The Woodlands Township in both Montgomery and Harris County. Election Day will take place Tuesday, November 4, with early voting for the joint election running from October 20 - 31.
