THE WOODLANDS, TX – In the first week of early voting for the May 2 joint election, primarily featuring MUD races, scarcely more than 14,000 people voted in total, reflecting a turnout of only three percent of the county’s 473,106 registered voters.

Woodlands Online talked with Brad Bailey, chairman of The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, about the election and its popularity or lack thereof.

“Every election is critically important in our community. MUDs play an integral role in our infrastructure all across The Woodlands, the older ones in the front and the newer ones in the back. We need to make sure that we vote and elect people capable of looking after and taking care of this infrastructure.”

Bailey also pointed out the importance of the special election for Texas State Senate District 4, with former Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon on the GOP ticket running against Democrat Ron Angeletti for the seat vacated by Brandon Creighton on his resignation.
