Update on Trails End Homicide- Victim’s Son Charged with His Murder
CONROE, TX -- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has charged 38-year-old Justin Blount in connection with the murder of his father, James “Mr. Jim” Blount.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office, and Harris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 teams have worked tirelessly since the discovery of Mr. Blount earlier this week. Through the course of the investigation, detectives located additional evidence leading to the murder charge.
Justin Blount was initially arrested on the day of the incident after it was discovered he had used his deceased father’s credit cards without authorization. As the investigation progressed, evidence indicated that he not only used the victim’s financial resources, but is also responsible for his murder.
Justin Blount was the individual who initially contacted 911, reporting that he had found his father deceased.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to all our internal and external law enforcement partners for their thorough and collaborative work in advancing this case and seeking justice for the victim and his family.
On June 1, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a deceased person at a residence in the 19200 block of Trails End Road in Conroe.
Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 81-year-old James Blount, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to begin the initial investigation. The investigation remains active and is continuing with assistance from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office.
