THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township is an official host site for the 17th Annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), taking place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as part of regularly scheduled swim lessons through The Woodlands Township Aquatics programming. This worldwide event brings communities together to raise awareness about the importance of water safety education and the life-saving benefits of formal swim lessons.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5 to 14. Research shows that formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by as much as 88% among young children.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ is a global movement dedicated to helping children and adults build confidence and develop essential water safety skills. In The Woodlands, the event will take place during regularly scheduled swim lessons at Alden Bridge, Falconwing, Rob Fleming, Shadowbend and Lakeside Pools.

Residents are encouraged to register for swim lessons offered through The Woodlands Township. Swim lesson registration for Sessions 1 through 4 is now open, with programs available for infants, children, teens and adults of all skill levels.

Learning to swim is an essential life skill that can help prevent tragedy while creating safer, more confident swimmers of all ages. Make water safety a priority throughout the summer season!
