Meals on Wheels Montgomery County fundraiser hits all the right notes
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Now in its fourth year, Meals on Wheels Montgomery County’s A Night in Nashville continues to grow as a signature event celebrating community partnership and supporting the organization’s mission to deliver nutritious meals, vital wellness checks, and transportation services to seniors throughout Montgomery County.
Held on April 16, 2026, at Sawyer Park Ice House, this high-energy live music event honored dedicated partners and introduced the new Adopt a Senior Program, which provides a full year of meals and support while fostering meaningful connections between donors and seniors. Together, attendees raised their paddles and adopted seniors in need.
“This event has become a cornerstone of our vital mission and how dedicated partners connect with our seniors like they are family. Our community recognized that no senior in Montgomery County should go hungry and that together we can deliver not just food, but dignity, comfort, and connection to those who need it most,” said Carrie Watkins, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. “Our new Adopt a Senior Program not only provides a full year of meals and support but also gives our donors the opportunity to connect with a senior to give them the kind of care we would want for ourselves. Our partners didn’t just raise their paddles – they really showed up for our seniors!”
Meals on Wheels Montgomery County proudly recognized its 2026 A Night in Nashville honorees:
- Golden Record Award – Waste Connections
- Legacy Record Award – Western Midstream
- Homebound Hero Award – Bill Smith, Longest Active MOWMC Volunteer (25+ years)
- Distinguished Partner in Senior Hunger Relief – Montgomery County Food Bank
As a leading partner, Waste Connections continues to champion the mission through both financial support and volunteerism. “A Night in Nashville was a wonderful example of what’s possible when the community comes together in support of Meals on Wheels’ mission,” said Sue Netherton, SVP – People, Training & Development. “Waste Connections is proud to partner with an organization that delivers both meals and meaningful impact to Montgomery County.”
Hosted by co-chairs Angel Porter and Jennifer Rice, the event featured a VIP reception, Nashville-style dinner, live and silent auctions, and performances by five Nashville musicians who kept the crowd entertained from acoustic sets to dance-floor favorites.
The evening was made possible by the generous support of key partners, including Presenting Sponsor Waste Connections, Corporate Sponsor Western Midstream, Serving Seniors Sponsors Chesmar Foundation and Tricia & Jack Futcher, Honky-Tonk Hero Stage Sponsors H-E-B and Trey & Jessica Brice, and the dedicated A Night in Nashville committee. Proceeds will directly fund essential services, delivering meals and care to homebound seniors across Montgomery County.
