Save money – and possibly your lives – with proper air conditioning maintenance this summer
THE WOODLANDS, TX – July saw the summer Rubicon crossed as the ‘dry’ high temperature finally hit over 100 degrees; ironically, we have a tropical storm to thank for temporarily lowering the thermometer again. But August is nearly upon us, and with that will sure come more days with highs in the triple digits.
Not only is this murder on your wallet in electricity costs, but the weather in The Woodlands could actually prove fatal to certain people without air conditioning in their homes. While there is no single national total for people who die specifically from completely missing an air conditioner, public health data shows that roughly 45% of all heat-related deaths in the U.S. happen inside homes – scaling to hundreds of indoor deaths annually where units were broken, turned off, or absent.
Fortunately, The Woodlands Plumbing & Air has been taking care of home HVAC systems for long enough that it has won a Best of The Woodlands Award for sixteen years in a row. Though the company has recently gone through a change in management, it still offers the great services and products that has made it an essential part of home building and maintenance in regards to Woodlands weather.
True to its name, the company’s air conditioning services include air conditioning installation, air conditioning maintenance, and air conditioning repair; heating services include heating installation, heating maintenance, and heating repair; and plumbing services include plumbing installation, plumbing maintenance, and plumbing repair. Recently, the staff have expanded their reach into electrical services, which include electric repair, electric panels, and home generators. Other services offered include the confirmation of indoor air quality.
The Woodlands Plumbing & Air’s fully licensed and insured technicians have more than 70 years of experience in installation, design, repair and routine maintenance of all major brands. Further, all of them continuously receive training on the latest technologies and developments within the industry.
Woodlands Online recently sat down with Joey Scheffler, the general manager of The Woodlands Plumbing & Air for the past six months.
Is The Woodlands Plumbing & Air your first foray into this industry?
No, I grew up in a family-owned HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), plumbing, and electrical business, so this industry has always been a big part of my life.
Can you describe the recent changes at the company? What has changed and what is different?
The Woodlands Plumbing & Air is officially under all-new management; however, while our leadership has changed, our commitment to serving our community remains stronger than ever. Our goal will always be to put customers over profit and provide honest, dependable services to you and your family.
For the first time this year, we’ve hit the 100-degree mark – not counting the heat index – and it won’t get cool for a few months now. What are warning signs that your AC isn’t up to snuff?
Warning signs that your air conditioning system may be struggling include loud noises coming from your unit – whether it’s indoor or outdoor – or if it’s running longer than usual, sudden spikes in your electricity bill, and weak airflow or ice on the outdoor unit.
How good is your company at determining if an HVAC system needs replacement or only repair?
We will always try to repair your system before recommending replacement, and we will give you honest opinions so you can make the best decisions for your home. Our technicians are licensed, background-checked, dependable, and committed to doing what is right. Our managers are always available to our customers, and our morals and ethics come from one book.
What summertime specials on products and/or services do you have going or are planned?
We’re currently offering several great specials, including a $39 summer HVAC tune-up, $49 water heater flushes, free sewer camera inspections, and free electrical panel inspections. Customers can also save up to $3,000 on new HVAC equipment. We’re a certified Trane dealer and offer our Wally V.I.P Club for additional savings, priority service, and year-round peace of mind.
Scheffler is proud to be a part of such a longtime business with rich, Woodlands-based family history. "We want to be grassroots in our approach to the community; under our new management, just like before, we're all about doing the right thing" he said.
