Conroe Man Arrested After Montgomery County Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of 119 Grams of Fentanyl

PORTER, TX -- A routine traffic stop conducted by a Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office deputy on Saturday, July 25, 2026, resulted in the arrest of a Conroe man and the seizure of approximately 119 grams of fentanyl.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., a Montgomery County Precinct 4 deputy initiated a traffic stop on a gold Ford passenger vehicle traveling northbound on FM 1314. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Marquis Joshua Woods, 38, admitted there was a small amount of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.

During the investigation, the deputy located a container filled with multicolored pills of various shapes and sizes. As the deputy attempted to detain Woods, he actively resisted arrest, pulling away and attempting to return to the vehicle. During the struggle, Woods grabbed the container of pills and threw it into a nearby ditch in an attempt to destroy the evidence. The container remained intact and was quickly recovered by deputies. Woods was taken into custody after a brief struggle without further incident.

A field test of the recovered pills yielded a positive result for fentanyl. The pills had a total weight of approximately 119 grams. Woods was transported to the East Montgomery County Jail and charged with:

• 2nd Degree Felony - Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, 4 Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams (Fentanyl)
• 3rd Degree Felony - Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair
• Class A Misdemeanor - Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transportation

Constable Rowdy Hayden stated: “Traffic stops are never ‘routine.’ I’m thankful our deputy went home safely, and that’s 119 grams of fentanyl that won’t make it into our community.”
