The Woodlands to Transform Trolley Shelters into Public Art Through New Community Partnership

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Imagine waiting for the trolley surrounded by original works of art instead of ordinary glass panels.

That's the vision behind a new public art initiative from The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) and The Woodlands Township, which will transform up to eight trolley shelters throughout The Woodlands into vibrant public art installations created by professional artists.

The project will feature digitally printed glass art panels integrated into the eight shelters, turning everyday transit stops into places of creativity, beauty and connection. As one of the largest public art expansions in recent years, the initiative continues The Woodlands' longstanding commitment to making art accessible beyond galleries and museums, bringing it into the places people experience every day.

Businesses, foundations, and individuals are invited to underwrite individual shelters, helping bring the project to life while demonstrating their commitment to enriching the community through the arts. Underwriters will receive permanent recognition at their sponsored location for the life of the installation.

Shelters will showcase original artwork printed directly onto durable laminated glass, creating a unique experience for thousands of residents and visitors who travel through The Woodlands Waterway® and Town Center each year. The project expands The Woodlands' nationally recognized public art collection while supporting TWAC's mission to enrich the community through the arts.

Underwriting opportunities are now available for organizations and individuals who wish to invest in this lasting community enhancement. Funds raised will support the fabrication and installation of the artwork while helping expand public access to the arts throughout The Woodlands.
