Leonard Baker Arrested in The Woodlands, Ending Multi-State Vehicle Burglary Crime Spree

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Leonard Baker, a suspect involved in multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts across Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas, is in custody.

On July 31st, Hoover Police Department (Alabama) Detective investigating Baker relayed to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies Baker’s crime patterns and possible whereabouts.

Deputies learned Baker had burglarized a vehicle in the parking lot of the YMCA located in the 6100 block of Shadowbend Place. Patrol deputies canvassed the area and located Baker at a nearby Target, in the 1100 block of Lake Woodlands Drive.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop, and a slow speed pursuit ensued. Deputies utilized the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to safely stop the vehicle and take Baker into custody without further incident. Baker was arrested and charged with credit/debit card abuse elderly, burglary of a motor vehicle, evading in a motor vehicle previous conviction and had an active Parole Warrant. Additional charges from other jurisdictions are also forthcoming.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to the diligent work of the detective with the Hoover Police Department who provided crucial information that ended Baker’s multi-state crime spree.
