Montgomery County Child Sexual Abuse Suspect Arrested After Fleeing Texas and Using Multiple Aliases

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On July 18, 2023, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report involving allegations of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. During the initial investigation, the victim disclosed that James Michael Nona had allegedly sexually assaulted them over a period of several years.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began an investigation into the allegations. During the investigation, Nona became aware that law enforcement was investigating him and allegedly fled the State of Texas to avoid apprehension.

Law enforcement subsequently located Nona in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, where he was reportedly using the alias “Jordan Hill.” Nona was arrested and later extradited to Montgomery County, Texas, on an active warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child or Disabled Individual.

During the investigation, detectives also developed information indicating that Nona may have had additional victims while he was in Oklahoma. Those allegations remain under investigation by the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Nona was released from custody in Montgomery County on bond on October 23, 2024.

On November 25, 2025, Nona allegedly removed his court-ordered GPS monitor and fled once again while his Montgomery County charges remained pending. Detectives continued working to locate Nona and developed information that he had traveled to Louisiana and was using multiple aliases, including “Trevor Craw” and “Dusty Crawford.”

On July 27, 2026, after an extensive effort to locate and apprehend Nona, he was taken into custody with the assistance of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, United States Marshals Service, and Galveston Police Department. Nona was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit continues to investigate information related to this case.
