Conroe Police Drone Leads Officers to Methamphetamine at MLK Park

CONROE, TX -- On July 30th, Conroe Police Department’s Drone First Responder (DFR) was deployed to MLK Park to assist officers responding to a disorderly conduct call.

The DFR was the first to arrive on scene and began providing officers with real-time situational awareness by observing the individuals involved under the park’s covered pavilion.

As officers approached the area, the DFR pilot observed one individual react by quickly concealing an object from the officers by hiding it nearby. The DFR pilot relayed the individual’s actions and the object's location to responding officers.

Officers located the intentionally concealed object underneath debris and identified it as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia
The suspect, identified as John Allen, 41, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

This incident illustrates how CPD’s Drone First Responder program provides officers with critical real-time information, enhancing situational awareness and assisting them as they respond to calls for service.
