Lone Star College System makes Great Colleges to Work For® list for 10th straight year

HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College System continues to be recognized as an elite higher education employer, earning a spot in the Great Colleges to Work For® program for the 10th consecutive year.

“Lone Star College System’s most valuable resource is its people,” said Patricia Woods, LSCS senior associate vice chancellor, Human Resources. “Together, our employees have built a culture of collaboration, support and growth. The annual list is a joint project between The Chronicle of Higher Education and ModernThink. Results are based on an employee survey and an institutional questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies. This year’s program highlighted 22 two-year institutions and 54 four-year institutions, with LSCS being recognized in the Compensation and Benefits category.

“This recognition affirms Lone Star College System’s commitment to ensuring all employees receive a livable wage and are compensated competitively within the higher education sector,” said Mario K. Castillo, J.D., LSCS chancellor. “Our faculty and staff show up every day to invest in and support our students, and we will continue to take care of them in this way.”

Financial resilience is one of four focus areas in LSCS’s 2025-2030 strategic plan. As higher education institutions across the nation consider layoffs and closures, LSCS remains fiscally stable. Last month, the LSCS Board of Trustees approved a balanced budget and across-the-board compensation increases for all employees.
