HOUSTON, TX -- The YMCA of Greater Houston will offer adults 55 and better an opportunity to step outside their everyday routines and rediscover the joy of camp during three “Be a Kid Again” day trips to YMCA Camp Cullen in Trinity, Texas, on Sept. 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. During this time, older adults will make new friends, explore camp activities and spend time in nature along the shores of Lake Livingston.

Adults 55 and better will experience adventure, relaxation and connection along Lake Livingston on Sept. 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

The day trips are part of ForeverWell, a YMCA program that helps adults 55 and better stay active and engaged through social, recreational and wellness opportunities. At YMCA Camp Cullen, individuals can choose how to spend their day based on their interests and activity level.

“Play, discovery and meaningful connection are important at every stage of life,” said Stephen Ives, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Houston. “YMCA Camp Cullen gives our ForeverWell members a chance to try something new, spend time with friends and enjoy what makes camp special. We’re creating spaces for older adults to stay engaged, build relationships and discover what brings them joy.”

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy the natural beauty of YMCA Camp Cullen’s 500-acre property nestled among the East Texas pines. The camp’s well-maintained facilities, bathrooms, shaded areas and accessible spaces make guests feel comfortable throughout the day.

For those looking for adventure, activities include ziplining, archery, water activities, and horseback riding, with options available for a range of abilities. Guests who prefer a relaxed experience can unwind in a rocking chair on a cabin porch, read a book by the lake, explore nature trails or catch up with friends over coffee. Arts and crafts and team games will provide attendees with time to get creative with fellow campers.

More than just a day away from the daily routine, “Be A Kid Again” will leave campers with a sense of wonder and possibility. Through ForeverWell, the YMCA of Greater Houston continues to create moments for older adults to stay active and connect with others in their community.
