THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Lone Star College-Montgomery Creative Arts Department and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion have teamed up to provide scholarships for fine arts students, helping them take the next step toward a creative career.

“The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Arts Scholarships will be truly transformative for their recipients, and I look forward to seeing the impact they make on our students' futures,” said Dr. Michael Walsh, LSC-Montgomery dean, Creative Arts and Education. These scholarships will support the study of all Fine Arts disciplines and Live Entertainment Technology.

“Through this endowed scholarship and our partnership with Lone Star College, we are investing in students in our community and helping ensure that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of their talent, passion and potential,” said Jeff Young, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion president and CEO.

The annual scholarship which totals $1,000 will be awarded during the 2026–27 academic year, with $500 awarded in the Fall 2026 semester and $500 in the Spring 2027 semester. The second grant is an endowed scholarship that will begin awarding $1,250 annually starting in the Fall 2027 semester.

“The outstanding faculty in the CREATE Division bring genuine passion and expertise to the classroom,” said Walsh. “Students can study Art, Dance, Education, Humanities, Kinesiology, Live Entertainment Technology, Music, Theatre and Visual Communications.”

Students develop critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills which are abilities that will serve them well in college, in their careers, and in an increasingly complex, technology-driven world. Recipients of these scholarships are preparing for advanced study and careers in fields such as visual arts and design, performing arts, entertainment technology production, arts administration and management.

“We are proud this scholarship will support students pursuing the arts for generations to come,” said Young.
