Job Description

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is an entry-level employee whose primary responsibility is to receive and process samples from field personnel as well as outside clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receive and process samples while inspecting for proper containers, temperatures, preservatives, etc.
• Providing an accurate and completed chain of custody record of any sample in your possession.
• Responsible for evaluating sample receipt compliance against appropriate methods and documenting any deviations.
• Responsible for distributing samples to appropriate storage locations and disposing of expired samples, as necessary.
• Shipping of samples to other laboratories or clients.
• Work directly with Department Supervisor and Manager to ensure accurate, timely, and complete processing of all samples.
• Convey any client requests or concerns to the Main Office.
• Utilize LIMS (Promium Element) functions to log and receive all samples, generate queries to monitor and prioritize sample processing, and other tasks as needed.
• Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area including maintaining supplies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety policies is beneficial.
• Possession of good organization skills; detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and have problem solving capabilities.
• Ability to work irregularly scheduled hours including overtime and weekends if necessary.

Other Requirements:
• Vision sufficient to read and interpret chemical and reagent labels, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, laws, spreadsheets, computer screens and print outs, business correspondence, and other documents encountered in the course of work.
• Hearing sufficient to hear conversation levels in person and telephone.
• Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in front of groups, over the telephone, in meetings, and training sessions.
• Mobility sufficient to safely move in an environmental laboratory.
• Dexterity sufficient to safely operate office equipment including computers and specialized tools and equipment utilized in the course of work.
• Strength sufficient to safely lift and carry sample containers, office supplies, materials, equipment, and other related materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Endurance sufficient to stand and bend from the waist for longs periods up to 100% of an 8 hour day.

Skills Required

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Compensation:

$14.00 hourly
