Description: First Methodist Conroe (FMC) values the worship service that cultivates an authentic experience of God’s presence and enables us to respond to Him with heart-felt prayer, praise and obedience. We value worship that helps us prepare our hearts and souls to turn our focus away from daily distractions toward God's holiness. The Modern Worship Director will provide strong musical and spiritual leadership for worship teams and the congregation. They will plan and implement biblical, creative and engaging worship experiences aligned with our church values as well as develop and nurture musical gifts.

The Modern Worship Director works closely with pastors, tech teams, and other church staff to align worship with sermon themes, church seasons, and the overall needs of the congregation. This position will work with and at times collaborate with the Traditional Worship Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading all areas of weekly Modern Worship Ministry, including:
• Coordinate and plan for worship services over a month in advance.
• Plan set list, keys for music, who leads for each song and coordinate with the Lead Pastor and the Creative Services team.
• Schedule and execute plan for all musicians and vocalists for Sunday service, Thursday morning Daybreak service and monthly Night of Worship.
• Develop, recommend, and manage the approved Modern Worship Ministry budget, including contract musicians, equipment, supplies, licensing and other ministry expenses, in accordance with FMC financial policies and Authority Guidelines.
• Lead and facilitate musicians in practice and live worship.
• Coordinate stage, instruments, backline and production requirements with the Creative Services team in advance of rehearsals and worship services.
• Attend all required meetings with direct report, staff and worship services, etc.
• Mentor, train, recruit and disciple all worship vocal and musician volunteers.
• Support FMC StudentLife and lead worship for Sunday night meetings.
• Support Traditional Worship and other campuses as needed.

Skills And Qualifications:
• Experience leading worship as primary song leader and instrumentalist.
• Strong musical proficiency, including the ability to play instruments and read music.
• Leadership experience with teams or ensembles, with knowledge of modern worship styles.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Willingness to support Traditional Worship and additional campuses, (Casa de Fe and The Woodlands Hills Community Church) when needed.
• Theological and biblical grounding to ensure worship aligns with sound doctrine.
• Ability to navigate and pivot cohesively when plans or events require changes.
• Display a love for God, a passion for discipling, and a desire to build Christian relationships with colleagues, children and their families, church members, visitors, and the community.
• Plan effectively and apply organizational skills to manage time for personal, current and future events simultaneously.
• Demonstrate positive, energetic behaviors, and be a motivated self-starter.

Desired Experience:
• Previous work on church staff; 2 years minimum leadership experience.
• Planned and lead Sunday music worship services for at least 2 years.
• Planned worship for special events: funerals, Easter, Christmas, etc.
• Established network of musicians and vocalists to assist with continued successful services, and special planned events.
• Proficiency with worship production tools such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, MultiTracks Playback, or comparable digital audio/workstation platforms.
• Contributed to vision, leadership, support and growth of worship services.
• Musical versatility with both modern worship as well as classical hymnals.
• Familiarity with copyright compliance (CCLI) and church technology.
• College degree preferred

Compensation:
This is a full-time position, at least 40 hours per week, inclusive of Sundays, and a beginning annual salary is based on experience. Rate of pay will be reviewed annually. All employees must pass a criminal background check and complete all required paperwork before being compensated for any work.
