HOUSTON, Texas --The run of new record high retail gas prices ended this week as prices at the pump slowed, according to AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

In Texas, the current average of $3.933 a gallon is about the same as last week’s average. It is also two-tenths of a penny less than the all-time high of $3.935 set on Wednesday of this week. The national average price rose a penny to $4.073 a gallon.

“It appears the recent run-up in gas prices may have slowed, with one cent being the highest weekly increase in the regions surveyed,” said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. “However, it is difficult to say if that will hold for the upcoming weeks considering the price of crude remains above $130 a barrel.”

The Dallas/Ft. Worth area ties for the most expensive gas at $3.947 a gallon. The cheapest gas is in Amarillo at $3.886 a gallon, down a penny from last week.
