Strykers Dog Day set for beginning of August

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Dog owners in The Woodlands will have an opportunity to attend the Woodlands Strykers Dog Day presented by Barker Street Gourmet Dog Bakery & Boutique on Saturday, August 4, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Stryker Field. Strykers Dog Day will precede the game between The Woodlands Strykers and the East Texas Pump Jacks, which will start at 7:05 p.m. General admission is $7, and $2 from every ticket will go towards supporting the local animal rescue.

Attendees will be able to visit the Vendor Dog Zone which will feature around 20 local businesses promoting services like pet sitting and grooming, and guests will have the chance to learn more about each business.

Shortly before the game at 6:15 p.m., the Pup Parade will take place.

“It's an opportunity for anyone who brings their dog to walk on the perimeter of the field to kick off the game,” Aaron Ogden, owner of Barker Street, said.

In order to ensure that the event runs smoothly, guests who plan on bringing their pet must register and may only bring one dog per person. Online pre-registration is available at StrykersDogDay.com under the “Registration” tab. People who opt to pre-register will receive a free gift upon entry, but registration can also be done on arrival to Stryker Field.

Several requirements must also be met for those interested in bringing their dog to the game, including proof of vaccinations which must be presented to an employee before entering. More information can be found on the website.

“We had the idea to do this after we participated in the Astro's Dog Day,” Ogden said. “People were very receptive to it so we wanted to create a community-driven event that supports local businesses and dog owners in the community and gives people something to do out in the community with their dogs.”
