THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- With an eye to enhancing the spirit as well as the body, the premier medical spa in The Woodlands is hosting a special inspirational and interactive gathering focused on hope.

Writer, lecturer and life coach Cindy Cline, author of “Always Hope” is the guest speaker at the inaugural Om Lecture Series event set for 5-7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Vedas Medical Spa.

“This is an era in which so many people are experiencing challenges and tragedy in their lives,” said Cline. “No matter how difficult or insufferable things seem, it’s important to remember there is always hope.”

It’s a lesson Cline learned early in life with the loss of a parent to illness and later with the loss of a sister to suicide.

“In the depths of depression, it’s hard to understand or believe that things will get better,” said Cline. “But they will.”

When confronting loss, Cline points out the feelings of loss and helplessness are temporary. For most, reaching out to friends and family is a way to regain identity and a sense of purpose. To share her philosophy and experience, Cline wrote “Always Hope” – a collection of stories about individuals that experienced heartbreaking losses, but rose above the experience to reaffirm that life is worth living. Author Ray Bradbury provided an inspirational forward for the book.

“Dealing with catastrophic medical problems or the loss of loved one can seem overwhelming,” acknowledged Cline. “But the human spirit is amazingly resilient.”

The message is particularly important in light of a frightening increase in the number of suicides nationwide – especially among teens and young adults.

“Bullying is a problem for young children,” said Cline. “They don’t have self confidence or the ability to cope at a young age.”

In an age of technological advancements, communication is easy, but less satisfying, said Cline. Texting and Facebook may be convenient, but they are superficial at best.

“Having a deep, personal conversation with someone in person is much different and far more rewarding,” said Cline. “But in the era of texting and Facebook, people distant and have fewer genuine or meaningful interactions with others.”

“Always Hope” offers real-life examples of people who have endured unimaginable tragedies or hardships, yet have found the strength not only to endure, but to rejoice. The lecture will feature special “hope” ambassadors who will share their stories as examples of rising above loss to gain a new appreciation for life.

"We created the Om Lecture Series to be part of a woman's overall journey,” said Dr. Chiltali Nangrani, spa physician at Vedas Medical Spa. “We want to walk with women and meet them at the various crossroads and celebrations in life. This program is a great one to begin our series because it is about hope, something we all cling to in life."

The Om Lecture Series is open to the public and offers individuals an opportunity to see the state-of-the-art facilities and services available at Vedas Medical Spa.
