Township seeks local veterans for welcome home ceremony, care package items from public

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township seeks veterans who have returned home from tours of duty within the last year to participate in a welcome home ceremony during the Township’s inaugural Veterans Day Tribute event.

Veterans who have returned home to The Woodlands since November 11, 2012, and reside or have family members that reside in The Woodlands are invited to participate in the ceremony at Town Green Park on Monday, November 11, 2013, at 1:30 p.m.

If you are interested in participating in the welcome home ceremony during the Veterans Day Tribute event, or would like to nominate a recently-returned home veteran, please contact Amber Parsley at 281-210-3893 or complete the Online Nomination Form.

There will be a military care package drop-off booth set up in Town Green Park during the Veterans Day Tribute to accept donations of recommended items to be shipped to the troops. Please click here for a list of recommended items. This is a great way to support and honor U.S. military service members.

In addition, a special announcement will be made about The Way Home, a Veterans‘ Memorial sculpture that will be placed in Town Green Park and will honor veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending freedom.
